  9.   What i will  be telling you  below you must  understand and agree  upon
  10.   BEFORE you use any  part of the  BROWSE-Package. The BROWSE-Package  is
  11.   subject to the following license terms and conditions.

  13.   * The BROWSE-package  is  supplied  as  is. The  author  disclaims  all
  14.     warranties, expressed or implied,  including, without limitation, the
  15.     warranties of  merchantability and  of fitness for  any purpose.  The
  16.     author assumes  no liability  for damages,  direct or  consequential,
  17.     which may result from the use of the BROWSE-package.

  19.   * The BROWSE-package is a "shareware program" and is provided at  no   
  20.     charge to the  user for evaluation. Feel  free to share it  with your
  21.     friends,  but  please do  not  give it  away  altered or  as  part of
  22.     another   system. The  essence  of  "user-supported"  software  is to
  23.     provide personal computer   users with quality software  without high
  24.     prices,  and yet to provide incentive  for programmers to continue to
  25.     develop new products.

  27.   * The  BROWSE-package,  all  programs,  the  documentation  and support
  28.     files   are  copyrighted  1991  by Patrik  Sjöberg.  All  rights  are
  29.     reserved. You  may copy  this package  for backup  purposes. You  may
  30.     also  copy  and  share  unmodified  copies  of   the  whole  package,
  31.     providing that the  copyright notice  is reproduced  and included  on
  32.     all copies.

  34.   * You may not sell the product for  a fee and/or distribute the product
  35.     along with  other products  without written  permission, nor  may you
  36.     modify  or remove  the  Copyright Notices  from the  programs  or the
  37.     documentation files.  User clubs,  if they  are  NOT commercial,  are
  38.     allowed  to ask a small amount  of money for distribution and storage
  39.     when they want to share this package amongst their members.

  41.   * It  is  forbidden  to modify,  adapt,  translate,  reverse  engineer,
  42.     decompile   and/or disassemble  the software  in the  BROWSE-package.
  43.     Patching the medium  at places that carry  the software is seen  as a

  46.   * Non-commercial users  can get  a licence  for the  usage  up to  this
  47.     release  of the BROWSE-package for a  small amount of money. Previous
  48.     registered  users will  receive  a big  reduction to  upgrade  to the
  49.     newer versions.

  51.   * Commercial  usage  of BROWSE  will  cost  somewhat more.  Also,  a so
  52.     called  'closed' Bulletin Board System (a  system where the user must
  53.     pay  direct to the SysOp  to get full access) has  to pay more than a
  54.     Non-commercial   user. Usage  of the BROWSE-Package  on a BBS  with 3
  55.     (three) lines or more is considered as 'closed bbs' usage also.

  60.     The different licenses.

  63.   There are  several ways  of registrating  the BROWSE-package.  It is   
  64.   all depending  on the environment  where BROWSE will  be running.  Read
  65.   the  disclaimer above before  you decide  what type  of registration   
  66.   that suits your environment.

  68.   NON-Commercial registration :

  70.   Regarding  the  time  and  effort  that has  been  have  put  into this
  71.   product, the NON-commercial registration is simple and rather cheap.

  73.   Payment of the registration fee, entitles you to:

  75.   - The license  for running ONE copy  of the BROWSE-package on  any     
  76.     computer in  a NON-commercial environment.  Allthough you  must treat
  77.     the BROWSE-Package like  a book.  That is, it  can't be  run on  more
  78.     than one CPU at a time.

  80.   - A Serial number/Key File  that makes your Copy of BROWSE  licensed to
  81.     You.  This serial number/Key File can  be used on subsequent releases
  82.     for at least  a year, Any copy can be used, also thoose obtained from
  83.     Shareware sources like a BBS.

  85.   - The license  for NON-commercial usage  can not be  used in  any other
  86.     environment than  the  NON-commercial environment  itself.  Upgrading
  87.     to a commercial license or to a license for a closed BBS can be  done
  88.     by paying  the difference in  price between the  current license  and
  89.     the new license;

  91.   The license does  NOT include any update  service as described later   
  92.   nor does it include the 90 days support service.

  95.   Closed BBS registration:

  97.   When  you use the  BROWSE-Package on a  it on a so  called 'closed' BBS
  98.   you must pay for a closed BBS license.

  100.   The  definition of a  closed BBS is a  BBS where the users  must pay to
  101.   the Sysop to get  full access. Also a BBS with  three (3) or more lines
  102.   must pay a closed BBS License.

  104.   Payment of the registration fee, entitles you to:

  106.   - The license  for  running  ONE  copy of  the  BROWSE-package  on  any
  107.     computer in a closed  BBS environment. Allthough  you must treat  the
  108.     BROWSE-Package like a  book. That is,  it can't be  run on more  than

  129.   pay for commercial license use BROWSE. Any company  registrating BROWSE
  130.   is regarded  as a commercial.  It doesn't matter  if the  company isn't
  131.   making  any money  from  the  usage. It  is  still  being run  from  an
  132.   commercial environment.

  153.   The license is NOT a  Site license. Contact the Author for  information
  154.   if you wish to enter a site license.

  159.     Method of payment.

  162.   There are  several ways of  transfering the license  fee to  me. Common
  163.   for all of them is that they  should be made payable to Patrik  Sjöberg
  164.   and all fees should be made payable in SEK - Swedish Krones.

  166.   - By postal  money order or  international money order.  Normal cheques
  167.     will cost  me extra money  to cash, so add  SEK 40:- for  transfer if
  168.     you use a  cheque. The real rate  for transfering a Foreign  check is
  169.     SEK 50  :- so i  am only  charging you some  of the amount  for this.
  170.     The conversion charge only applies to Non-Swedish cheques.

  172.   - By Postal Giro. My Postal Giro account in Stockholm is 82 04 89 -  3.
  173.     The Postal  Giro is  also known  as PostGiro, Postcheckkonto,  Compte
  174.     Chèques postaux, PostRekening, Girobank Account  all depending on the
  175.     country you live in.

  177.   - Sending money directly.

  179.   - By credit card. Simply fill out the registration form and mail it.

  183.   If you feel  unsure what the  current exchange rate  is talk with  your
  184.   bank. They will be more than happy to help you out.

  199.   I  know that  it shouldn't  be to  hard  to crack  the few  things that
  200.   appear in  the  unregistered  version  but thats  not  the  point.  The
  201.   program still works.  It is *Not*  Crippled in any  other way! I  don't
  202.   believe that a program  can be made full-proof to hackers,  and such, I
  203.   don't find it usefull  to create difficult algorithms. Many people know
  204.   by now  that when people don't  register, the program  will die, sooner
  205.   or later. So if you wish  to see future enhancemants of BROWSE ( and my
  206.   other programs ) then Please Register.

  247.   number then no additional fees are necesary.

  253.   How  much I  still would like  to send  you all  an upgrade  for free I
  254.   can't do that.  My phonebills wouldn't stand  it. So if you  would like
  255.   an upgrade  of BROWSE when it  sees the light of  day you will  have to
  256.   enter  the update  service.  International users  who  use BROWSE  will
  257.   benefit  most  of this  feature.  Paying  the fee  for  update service,
  258.   entitles you to:

  260.   - Receiving  every new release  for the period  of one year  or 10     
  261.     releases (which ever  comes first) on  diskette media by  first-class
  262.     Airmail.
  263.  
  264.   - The  diskettes are  first-class (no  no-name or  white diskettes) and
  265.     will contain a special diskette label;
  266.  
  267.   The disk(s)  will  be  mailed  the  same day  as  the  new  version  is
  268.   released.

  274.   The  BROWSE-Package has full support from  its Author. New versions are
  275.   allways  under development. And the Author is  allways open to the user
  276.   input. So if  you feel that something  is missing or that  something is
  277.   "backwards" let me  know and i'll have  a look at it and  maybe in some
  278.   future version you'll find it implemented.

  280.   As a registered user you are entitled to :

  282.   - Free support.
  283.  
  284.   - This support consists of  answering questions and fixing  any program
  285.     errors the  user submits  to Author  in person.  Only program  errors
  286.     that can be reproduced  and that interfere with  the intended use  of
  287.     the  program as  outlined  in the  documentation will  be  fixed. The
  288.     author can  ask you to give some special  data to correct the problem
  289.     and  can  ask  you  to  check  if  you   own  a  valid  copy  of  the
  290.     BROWSE-package.

  292.   - The author  may choose  not to  fix any  problem that  is related  to
  293.     hardware  and/or software configurations  that causes one  or more of
  294.     the  programs in  the  BROWSE-package not  to run  correctly.  If the
  295.     Author chooses to NOT correct such a  problem you are NOT entitled to
  296.     a refund of the license money.

  298.   Unregistered users will only  reciece support if i have the  time. I do
  299.   NOT  guarente that non-registered users will  get any response from the
  300.   Author.
